CARLO CAMELI

His career begins in the early 70’s in the family run ship-owning group which at the time was one of the biggest in Europe with a large fleet of tankers, dry cargo and ferries. In 1977 he leaves the Cameli Group to become a tanker broker, and as such he will work, also as a partner, until 1986 with two of the leading brokerage firms in Genoa benefiting from the support of the most important Italian ship owners and Oil Companies. But , missing the ship owning side of the business, in 1986 he accepts to become the General Manager of an eminent ship owner in Ravenna from where, after three successful years, he moves to Rome to establish, again as General Manager, a Pool , Petrotank Italia, formed by four important ship owners . The first Italian double hull tankers are built under this Pool. At the end of the 90’s, Carlo joins, always as General Manager, Fratelli d’Amico Armatori of Rome where he was in charge of a fleet of very modern Aframax and Suezmax tankers. Having retired from his last position recently Carlo has become the Senior Shipping advisor of a very important Investment Fund. He is a member of the Intertanko Council and of the Executive Committee. He participates in the Worldscale Committee and the Steering Group of the Intertanko/OCIMF initiative. Carlo also sits on the Board and the Executive Committee of Confitarma, being Chairman of the Deep Sea Committee as well as on the Board and the Executive Committee of BIMCO in which organization he chairs the Security Committee.
